I was told that inside my service panel I need to have all bare grounds attached to a seperate lug that is fastened inside the box somewhere, also I was told to have bares on one side and whites on the opposite side ??? If someone has a picture of a completed 200 service panel I would like to see it, eck5150@chartermi.net.

Without looking at your panel it shouldn't matter which side they go on because, IF THIS IS SERVICE EQUIPMENT, the nuetral and ground should be bonded. As far as grounding terminals go, if they are listed and labelled for two conductors, I don't see a problem. Don't do that with your nuetrals though.

If you have a disconnect after the meter you will need to seperate whites and isolate the grounded conductor from the EGC.

If the service panel in question is a sub panel, then you need to isolate the ground from the neutral. There must be an isolated ground bar labeled 'Equipment Ground". You are not permitted to put all the grouns under one lug.

If this is the main panel with a main disconnect, then you do not need to isolate the ground.

Who told you this? A buddy or an inspector?

If an inspector, he should have explained the violation. However he is not obligated to teach you.
