Current 24 breaker 200 amp service box has ground wires directly connected to neutral wires at bus bar in box.
New 220v appliances come with 4 wire capability i.e. ground separated from neutral.Should I attempt to reconfigure the breaker box to separate the ground from the neutral. The 24 foot buried ground rod is directly connected to neutral at the meter box outside the home.It would appear that separation would be ineffective and not necessary. Any comments from experienced electricians familiar with NEC codes or have experience with this question? Thanks, Ted

Are you a qualifed electrician, is this for your house?

An electrial engineer does not make one an electrician, and vise versa.
We cannot provide assistance to a person who is not an electrician and who is planning to do their own electrical installation work. It is an issue of liability. The owner of this Forum does not want us to give you the answer to the one question you asked, without also giving you the answers to the thousands of other questions that you did not know you needed to ask. If you or another person gets hurt, we don?t want you to claim that we should have told you something. But more importantly, we don?t want you or any other person to get hurt.
