I don't see anything in 680 or 230 that dictates a minimum spacing for an underground fed service from a permitly installed pool.

Little help please.

I think this will help - See Mike's PDF: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0ahUKEwiehdy2lO_SAhWKSyYKHTrQC6sQFggaMAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mikeholt.com%2Fdownload.php%3Ffile%3DPDF%2FSwimming_Pools_and_Spas_2014NEC.pdf&usg=AFQjCNHli4CC4UMdxP1Gtws655OlTlceYQ&bvm=bv.150475504,d.eWE&cad=rja

There are pretty pictures in the pdf that may help.

Pg8
2014 NEC 680.10

Underground wiring isn’t permitted under permanently installed pools
or within 5 ft horizontally from the inside wall of the pool unless necessary
to supply the permanently installed pool or storable pool
equipment.

If space limitations prevent underground wiring from being at least
5 ft away, wiring must be installed in complete raceway systems of
rigid metal conduit, intermediate metal conduit, or PVC conduit.

The minimum cover is 6 in. for rigid metal conduit and intermediate
metal conduit. Nonmetallic raceways must have at least 6 in. of cover,
4 in. of which must be concrete. Nonmetallic raceways listed for direct
burial without concrete encasement require 18 in. of cover [Table
680.10].

The figure 680-14 in the pdf shows a service / meter can on the side of a home.

I believe that language disappered with the 2017.

Yes your correct, and I posted 2014 code knowing in Florida we are still using 2011 :(

The wording and code sections are the same for 2011 + 2014 so being in Florida and probably 10 years away from adopting the 2017 code ;), we may be stuck with the way the code reads now, unless your inspector is a bit proactive.
