service rated transfer switch

Hey guys, I seem to recall that is not code to nipple a service rated transfer switch to the meter can, and feed the load side through the meter can.

Can anyone confirm this. I cant seem tofind it in my code book.

If you route the line side of the TS and the load side thru the same nipple it's a violation of 230.7
(Service conductors sharing a raceway with non service)

What if they are separate nipples? I am thinking this is still a violation

Would that apply to a chase nipple as well? Perhaps not, as it is a fitting?

No prohibition on service conductors and feeder conductors in the same enclosure, just in the same raceway.

Ty. This is going to make life easier. 2 nipples out the meter can to the transfer switch, and away we go

No specific violation that I know of although many POCOs don't allow it.
Art 312.6, 312.7 & 312.8 might well be an issue depend on your meter socket.

you will now have to run 4 wire to the panel and separate G_N. it is now a sub panel
