What does service rated mean? can polars and sharkebite and other fittings be service rated ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

What's with all the useless ? marks? We understand that starting a thread may take a minimum amount of characters but after that it's unnecessary. Look at other threads and notice what's going on.

I would only be able to answer by saying that a few are now service rated because of recent demand.

I don't now which ones are, but it should be relatively easy to find out on the webs or from suppliers.
 
Both ILSCO and Polaris have some of their connectors listed by UL for line side connections. However that is only for the ones listed by UL.

There a number of other testing labs that may have listed other brands of connectors for use on the line side of the service equipment.
 
Didn't we go through the same thing with power distribution blocks some time back?

Is there a history of problems with them or the Polaris style when used with service conductors or is this one of those solutions looking for a problem kind of thing?
 
I'm not sure where Polaris and Ilsco are now, but for a while the only Polaris block that was compliant with 230.46 was the two port (butt splice) version.
