I'm aware of 210.63 requiring GFCI receptacles for HACR equipment, however, I'm not sure if exhaust fans are included in HACR equipment. How are these defined?

An exhaust fan does not provide heating, nor does it condition the air, nor does it include a refrigeration cycle. No receptacle is required for this item.

i would say no. They are ventilation equipment not heating, air conditioning or refrigeration equipment. And Charlie beat me to it.

I agree with the other posters that it is not required. However, IMO, some kind of outlet in the vicinity of this type of equipment is a good idea for when the poor service guy has to work on it in the dead of night.

I got failed for a hood exhaust on the roof and no outlet, actually by the plumbing/mech inspector.
