i just told my costumer who asked what size service needed for his 7-unit apartment bldg and house load

l apartments are typical ,500 sq.ft
loaded with general ltg, garb disposal and window mounted a.c
And house load has common laundry and a gate

and I replied 400A minimum required these days

do you think I gave correct respond

I would say that giving a customer an answer without performing at least a quick and simple load calculation was not the correct thing to do, even if 400 amps turns out to be the right answer. Also, since you didn?t mention the voltage level or the number of phases, it is not possible for me to second guess your guess.

I agree with Charlie-- you need more info-- range gas or elec. water heater -- gas or electric same for heat and a/c? You need to do a load calc and then ask the question

In order to impress your costumer
i have make quick decision brain storming quick calc in the mind
The voltage is 120/240v. 1-phase
and total load on each unit (as mentioned earlier) is about 60A
