My company is looking for new service vechicles, either vans or pickup trucks. Fuel economy is high on the requirements, as is storage. This is for small electrical contracting and maintenance.

The Dodge Sprinter is suppose to be the Cats Meow... Just ugly as ugly gets...

If it is good on fuel, and has plenty of storage space and easy to get in and out of, then it can be as ugly as an ulgy stick, In the service business you need a good service truck, It's not going to the car show, but if you think about it, ugly may be an asset, as the song says "marry an ugly wife, and be happy the rest of your life"

Either Dodge Sprinter or Freightliner Sprinter series both are very simuair to each other

on diesel verison they can get up to 28 MPG on road but i heard some can get up to 30 MPG if lightly loaded but full loaded it is low 20's and the service life of this van are pretty long life i am sure the Fed-Express , UPS and few other delevery company used that van and have pretty good results with it.

they have pretty wide options you can choose on this van just almost unbeilvebale there

but for other full sized van i know Ford do have diesel verison but only in one tonner and i am not sure if that will jusify the cost and fuel mpg is not really " thrilled " with this i heard it ran anywhere 14 -19 mpg range i just cant say if that is correct #'s

the GM just came back with duramax on full sized van but derated from pickup line [ the same thing with Ford as well ]

I dont have any info related to the duramax on the cargo verison yet so hard to say where it will go with this as well

Merci , Marc

It looks as though john has been spending some time behind the 7-11 for the crates.;)

I am so jealous of the ladder racks on the cargo box. My E150 I had ladders fly all over, knocking my milk crates over just getting off the interstate.

16' box van

16' box van

My 16' box van doesn't look as quite as organized as the one above  , but it is the best contracting vehicle I've ever owned. I have a side roll up door with steps, and a roll up rear door with a 2000# lift gate. 7 1/2 ton rating, gets about 12 mpg around town (pretty good for the weight). Stops and turns on a dime (Isuzu NPR w/ turbo 4 cylinder deisel) Bought it for $25K with 55K miles.

Everything is dry and secure, and I have a place to work when it's raining. I also have a rolling billboard advertising my company.

One caveat: because there's so much room, it's real easy to get "junked out". You know, end of the day, long week, throw everything in, think you'll get around to cleaning it out next week, etc, etc, etc.

After I get mine cleaned out, I'll post pictures.

I thought the Sprinter had Mercedes parts under the hood...

Anyone know about that?

If it's a Dodge diesel, I normally would expect it to be a Cummins, but even the new Cummins only get 22MPG on highway... (only... rofl!)

Way to go Dennis. Showing all those vehicles covers it. I personally like my dully ford truck with one box and two side boxes on it. I have used vans also but never liked them except on rain days. I use my truck for everything not just work. Everyone has an opinion that's different. Also Dennis where can I find good looking help like that? Semper Fi. Buddy
