I am working on an existing building that currently has (3) metered services for (3) tenants with one service drop. The new design will have single tenant occupying the entire building. My question is by code can a single tenant have (3) individual meters.

Whoever ran that coax has no pride.

My understanding is that each meter counts as a service, which means no unless it's a big enough building or any other 230.2 option.

That is not correct. The number of meters has nothing to do with the service as it the drops or laterals that count.

Yes you can have 3 meters but why would you want to pay a minimum base price for each meter.

Well good to know. Never had to deal with this situation before. I'll try to remember if it ever comes up.

The only situation I can think of where this could be an issue is if the service is a 230.40 exception #1 set up where you have a set of service entrance conductors serving each original occupancy. Note with this arrangement there would be three service disconnects and they would not be grouped. Now if you make it a single occupancy, you have an issue with non-grouped disconnects. With your set up I assume those are the service disconnects above the meters and all grouped, so no issue.
