Mostly, when a failure symptom is detected in our servo systems, we do the basic tests like start signal, power, control and so on. Most of the time, because of the intermittent nature of faults and the sometimes strange and inconsistant symptoms that are caused by these faults, it takes time to collect this basic data. Then we go through process of elimination to find the root cause because the fault annunciation is not precise. This again takes time and chances of errors are increased when multiple servo systems are involved.
Is there any system out there that does condition monitoring, where one can foresee trouble? I am interested to know. Does it generate any information that can be traced to the open circuit or short circuit that has caused a failure? I thank you in advance for any replies.
