Set screw EMT fittings

Not all outdoor locations are considered wet. Under a canopy is outdoors but not wet. A wet location requires a connector listed for that location.

If I remember correctly there was a manufacturer that made wet location set screw connectors. The key is the listing of the connector, not if it contains a set screw.

I thought everything outdoors was now considered wet???

I thought this was the reason that sleeving NM outside was illegal.

We had this discussion once before- someone from arizona brought up the fact that they were in arizona and there were no 'wet locations'...

No... see 05' NEC 314.15(A)

You're making an assumption that there isn't a listed EMT fitting for a wet location that tightens with a set screw. Do you know for sure that one doesn't exist?

No not yet anyway.

The inside of raceways outside are considered wet.

The inside of enclosures outside are considered dry.

Something outside under an overhang could be just a damp location.

You do not need wet location connectors exiting the bottom of 3R enclosures.
