There is no specified distance in the NEC. This is typically a jurisdictional thing. Check with your AHJ.

I agree with Pete,

A strict reading of 230.70(A)(1) would not allow any length of SEU to run into the home to the service disconnecting means.

I know many jurisdictions permit lengths of 5 feet or so but that would be left up to the AHJ.
