Hi all. I currently have no disconnect between my 200amp main panel & the service entrance which is about 25ft away. There is a solid ground cable that runs alongside the SEU cable that runs from the rod and into the main panel. There are no sub panels. I have been told the code here in PA is 5ft for a disconnect so the house is not in code. I am in the process of installing a standby generator and decided to add a disconnect right next to service entrance and then feed the ATS (the Cummins ATS does not have a disconnect). I will use the same SEU cable 4/0 4/0 2/0 that currently runs from the service entrance, moving that over to the ATS to feed my panel. So I need SEU cable to run from the service entrance to the disconnect & then from disconnect to the ATS (all next to each other). What SEU cable size do I need to run. I am more confused with the bare wire in SEU that is for the neutral. Does neutral always have to be bigger (2/0) than the 2 hots (4/0)? So would 4/0 4/0 2/0 be the SEU I need between the service entrance, disconnect & ATS? Thanks!
