In Maryland, no, as long as you install a single recepticle. As a matter of fact, you would probably have nusance tripping of a gfci. And a sewer pump backing up would be a REAL nusancE!
If it is in an unfinished basement, I don't see any way around that anymore. The documentaion to many sewage ejector pumps calls for a GFCI protected circuit anyhow.
The manufactures instructions call for a grounded circuit and outlet but nothing about gfi. The inspector said I needed one, but I had the same thoughts of sewage backing up if it trips. Chris
Our inspector says use a single recep. I went to a call once where the GFCI tripped and the HO didn't know there even was a GFCI. Well I won't go into detail but I wished I would have had some galoshes that day.
