Halo... Can any one help me??

Presently i am working onboard a ship. The ship had alot of stanchion ( upright post or support ) and each individual stanchion has a small bonding ( earthing ) cable. A question was ask by my superior - What is the value ( OHM )of the bonding cable??? He told me there's a requirement and code to follow.
I am not sure what is the actual value (OHM).
Is there anybody here can help me..
Thanks...
Sorry about the spelling mistakes

Re: ship's Bonding cable requirement??

What is "stension" cable?
Also the NEC does not apply to shipboard wiring, but I would think that a lot of the basic rules could be used...

Re: ship's Bonding cable requirement??

Ships of US registry fall under Coast Guard requirements. Some foreign vessels also use them. Many use Det Norske Veritas (sp?) (Norwegian) standards. The wiring requirements are substantially different from the NEC.

The US Coast Guard electrical site is:

http://www.uscg.mil/hq/g-m/mse/elec.htm

It does have a fairly comprehensive section on grounding requirements but I'm not familiar with them enough to direct you to a specific requirement.
