The link above takes you to Cooper Bussmann's 'Electrical Plan Review' manual which is an excellent source for learning how to do point-to-point RMS symmetrical short-circuit calculations. Keep in mind, though, that this method is only good for </= 600V. Once you get into MV & HV you're dealing with a whole different animal.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Thanks David but, you're just a little late, here's one time from 04 and this was only one of many times. :)

Sorry, Roger. I just got on this site last week. Is there somewhere in the front of the website that this link could be posted with more exposure? Since the threads scroll down so often I see how it could be easily overlooked. Reading all the questions about SS calcs this would be valuable to everyone it seems.

David, no appology necessary, I didn't mean there was anything wrong with you posting it.

I like and agree with your idea, there needs to be a list of these types of usefull information links posted somewhere.

I'll mention it to the organizer of these types of "Stickys", Moderator George Stolz.

He already has included a usefull "noteworthy" link line here, be sure to check the 2005 FAQ's too.

Oh, I didn't take your comment as a scolding. I agree about a quick menu for valuable links. It's gotton to where nowadays all equipment mfg's have useful links to this kind of stuff, but sometimes it's hard to find. I went straight to Cooper Bussmann's site to pass this along to someone else the other day & couldn't find it. Luckily Ron (senior member) had passed this to somene on another post & I just happened across it. A couple of years ago I found another good treatment for SS calcs on Siemens' site, but they've changed it around so much & it's so hard to navigate I couldn't find it again on their site either.

Keep in mind that is a very limited program, that you cant maintain your analysis, and makes alot of assumptions about your system. That program is really designed to show you the "benifits" of using current limiting fuses (Which is a misleading term in itself) by allowing you to make some calculations, that program is a long way off from an actual power system analysis program.
