I know that it is good practice to put shower light on a gfci but can anybody show me where in the code it says that you have to do it. Some people also say that the fan also has to be gfci. Show me in the code were it says that thanks
A shower ceiling is a damp location, I never seen a exhaust fan listed for use in a damp location that did not require GFCI protection. The light is a different story.
The bottom line here is the NEC does not require GFCI protection for a shower light. As for the fan, all that I have seen do require it per manufacturers instructions.
Thanks I got my answer, I have only seen a fan light saying must be gfci protected if in damp location not shower lite which was the point I was trying to prove. Thanks for the input
