shower lighting - looking for fixtures

I went through this a few years ago, and the only fixture I was able to come up with at the time was a "step light" such as are commonly recessed in exterior masonry steps and brick walls. The customer didn't like any of the models I came up with along that line, so nothing was done. There might be some other options now.

My first reaction would be recessed, low-voltage. Similar to step lights, but like the ones used on decks since they're listed for wet locations.

If you have deep enough walls, take a look at underwater pool and spa lights.

That crossed my mind as well, but I thought maybe they would be too bright/hot unless you could put in a lo-watt bulb.

The spa light is a good idea too, Some are quite energy efficient by using LEDs.

ok thanks. i'll probably check a step light; didn't even think about that. was looking at hydrels but the price is probably out of sight.

There are nice commercial step/walk lites with stainless cases and frosted glass that can be dimmed, but they will be 200+. I f that is in the budget look under architectrual lighting searches. italian cos. have nice options.

hey guys,
i'm looking for lights that can be mounted in the wall of a shower. any leads? thanks.

I'm curious what the advantage would be installing lights in the walls and not the ceiling, is this just a preference?

In the case I talked about, the customer just thought it would look cool. No real reason, otherwise.

1) yes the "cool factor"
2) ceiling will be cluttered w/ various jets and those big rain heads, if that's what they're called.

i'm thinking the price won't be so cool, so they'll probably opt for multiple 3" recessed wet lites.

thanks for all the replies

Shower Lights

Shower Lights

In a condo with precast ceiling, we ran into this problem lighting a shower stall.
Halo Iris fixtures fit the bill and were rated to be installed sideways in the wall.
I don't remember the particulars of the fixture but your local rep should be able to help you.
