I'd start with the steamer's instructions.

Re: shower steamer

A shower steamer in usually located in a different location or compartment other than shower and hopefully metal water piping (if used)is bonded or piping is poly. The steamer unit is grounded at a terminal within unit. No electrical continuity to user and ground fault protection is not required.

Re: shower steamer

I've never installed one that had such a requirement. They generally run in the 50-60 amp range. Think of them more like a water heater, which doesn't require GFCI protection either.

Re: shower steamer

Just did one.
50amp.
No GFCI.

Cat5e was run by 'others' from shower to unit for control.
