Shunt trip button

Question simple on shunt trip button for service main disconnect .
lets say remotely mounted outside of the main electrical room .
Is there and NEC code that states what this device shall be or how its identified color or type of device operation protection of . This is for shutting down power to the building during a fire or other major event needed to shut down the building .
Any code rules type size color ?

There is nothing in the NEC that I am aware of that requires this button or describes it's installation.

It sounds like a local requirement and if that is the case the local AHJ will need to provide the rules.

That is one heck of a light switch.

Bad idea if you are worried about reliability.

I thought from the OP that it was just a customer desire.

Contact your local electric inspector and tell him what you're doing. If you came to me with that I'd say use the red momentary contact mushroom with a sign "Main Electric Disconnect - Emergency Use Only"
