Shunt trip

Would like to know whether it's best to shunt trip primary (13.8 kV) or secondary circuit breaker (2.4 kV) of building transformer under load?

i would say it is a matter of cost -- either shunt trip will be designed to handle the rated current flow. i would rather have it on the higher voltage breaker because it will be opening at a lower current..........

Since you probably already have relays on either, I would prefer a primary shunt trip. I assume the shunt trip is some sort of emergency power off?
