Good Morning,

I had an inspector tell me that I must add oxide inhibitor to the factory wiring of the meter combo to pass inspection. The meter is a Siemens MC0816b1200th. I've installed a lot of these over the years under many different inspectors and this is the first time I've ever been asked to do this. Just wanted to make sure its right and not going to be causing any issues with any of the manufacture listings and specs. We emailed Siemens yesterday, but have not received a reply.

Thanks, Ryan

You can use it if you want to be it's generally not required.

Welcome to the Forum. :)

Never seen that required either so it would come as a surprise.

Your inspector is clueless. Ask for a code article. If he tries to hang his hat on the acticle specifying "we must follow manufacturers instructions" you can show him they don't call out de-oxing factory terminations in the literature that comes with the panel. Common sense would tell me if it was required, the factory would simply put the de-ox on.

I’ve recently used the same meter/disconnect combo and it did stand out to me also that there was no de-ox on there copper wires to the disconnect lugs, but then again maybe not necessarily needed as most aluminum lugs are now made with a tin plating....?
