Sign Lighting Fixture Spacing

Hello all-

I'm working on a project and a static sign is being installed. The sign is 40" tall and 72" wide and will be 24" above the ground. I'm looking at a 48" long fixture to mount on the ground pointing up to illuminate the sign. How far should I place the light fixture to get a good overall appearance? I am thinking around 18" but have a nagging feeling that it is too close. Any experience you may have to offer would be great.

I'm on it, give me a minute. Do you know which fixture you are looking at?

I did some 3D rendering in LitePro and to get the kind of uniformity you should have, 4' is about the best answer I got. Any closer and you have major hot spots.
