Anyone here using or have experience with signature capture software?

We are looking to go paperless for service calls, when possible. We are thinking about either a tablet PC or a device that will directly place a signature on a work order. Then we can email and/or fax it directly from the computer to the office and/or customer.

We have found a legally binding way to digitally attach a signature to a pdf, but I am more concerned with functionality and logistics than the legal side.

Every van that gets one of these computers will also get a portable printer if the occasion calls for paper.

.

We fill out a contract or work order on a hard copy and have the customer sign the hard copy
Then we have them digital sign the credit card swipe and we e mail or send them a hard copy in the mail

that copy to them

This particular application is not directly related to invoicing. We service several customers that do not involve the personnel in financials. One example is an apartment complex management firm. We already have authorization for work. They have their individual site manager sign off acknowledging the work is complete. I want to have our staff get the signature and email it directly to the client. As soon as they get it, we get the payment ball rolling.

This was save scanning and/or faxing the forms. Also, it will never get 'lost'. If it does I can immediately resent it, as I will get cc'ed on the original email.

Not my area, but the description of what you are looking for sounds like Microsoft Office One Note may serve your purpose. You can generate the work orders in say Word or Excel or as pdf's, print to the One Note Printer (prints to a new One Note document; One Note automatically opens to this document) and there are writing tools in One Note which can handle the signature. Then you invoke an email directly from One Note and it automatically opens the default email client with the ".one" document and a single-file web page version already attached...
