Single Dedicated Receptacles - No GFCI

Merry Christmas
I am being told while GFCI protection is not required for a single receptacle if they meet specific criteria related to their use and location. Is this stated in NEC somewhere?

Thx

That used to be allowed. I don't know of any exception now that allows using a single receptacle in lieu of GFCI. There are exceptions for not using GFCI, such as snow melting, or fire pump, and a few others, but I don't see anything for replacing duplex with single receptacle to avoid GFCI.

Only if you are on the 2005 or older NEC.
As pointed out, that is an older allowance, no longer in the NEC. But seeing that you are in Missouri, that is one of the 4 states that does not adopt the NEC statewide, it is county / municipality specific. So you will have to check with what AHJ covers exactly where you are doing this job.
