I have 400 amps service going to single family dwelling. The dwelling unit does not have any accessories building. Service is going to be overhead.

The electrician and designer both asked if parallel overhead service entrance conductors be provided or overhead service entrance conductors should not be parallel for the 400A service.

Only thing I see is NEC 2014 section 230.40 one set of service entrance conductor be provided for building. One set means not parallel but I am not sure if I am correct. Can you have parallel service entrance conductors for above scenario or not?

Additionally, if you are sizing for the service entrance conductors... what is load calculation? You may be able to get away with 1 set of 500mcm.

Parallel conductors are allowed but not required. Parallel conductors are considered one conductor, please see the rules for paralleling conductors before asking any more questions

Single family dwelling unit does Not have accessories structure. I don’t follow where is it allowed to have parallel service entrance conductors?
You lost me, are you asking if the set of service entrance conductors feeding the 400 amp service can be paralleled, for example 2 sets of #3/0?

Any service, feeder or branch circuit can be installed using parallel conductors.
As noted in Post #7, see the appropriate rules.
