Set up is, single family dwelling that’s existing.

Attached to it is a garage with an apartment above it (new build)

For power and metering they plan on using an existing service approx 50’ away (underground fed service rack) that use to go to a trailer which is now gone.

Anything wrong with them utilizing the existing service to feed a new basically apartment and garage attached to an existing structure?

Sorry last text didn’t make much sense. Yes, if a garage and living space that is butted up and built off the outside of the existing house is one structure?

Or would an exterior wall (firewall) make it defined as a separate structure.

I'm fairly sure you will get a few opinions but your question can only be answered by your local building rules. As far as the NEC is concerned, no you can not feed one building with multiple services unless you meet the requirements in 230
