Could someone direct me to the NEC Article that addresses a Grounding Conductor run in a single raceway with two circuits? In this case I have two 120V 20Amp circuits running in a single conduit; at the end of the run are two Outlets (one for each circuit). I?ve sized the grounding conductor on total ampacity of the two parallel circuits. I believe it?s permissible to run a single ground for two circuits this way and remember having read about this in the NEC.

Don provided the section, I would avoid using the term parallel in this context as it can be confused with parallel conductors.

If you sized it for 40 amps, you oversized it, the equipment ground needs to be sized only for the largest ocp in the conduit, which at 20 amps only needs to be a #12 ( not allowing for upsizing due to voltage drop, if applicable.)
