Sink in a peninsula

I have a sink in a peninsula and the design shows just one receptacle in one side of the sink. I requested to add a receptacle in the other side, but the engineer answered that it wasn't necessary because according to NEC 210.52(C)(3) just one receptacle is required in a peninsula. Actually the article reads "At least one receptacle outlet shall be installed at each peninsular counter space". Is it mandatory to have a receptacle at each side of the sink?. The counter spaces at both sides of the sink are more than 24" and the peninsula doesn't have back-splash.

You need a second receptacle. Per article 210.52(C)(4), the sink divides the peninsula into two countertop spaces, and per (C)(3) each needs a receptacle.

'08 will treat islands and peninsulas identically
 
Charlie,.I don't think so ,..210.52(c) (3) calls for at least one on the peninsular counter if there is no sink one is it ,.if there is 12' behind the sink one is still it ,..210.52(c)

That is how it reads to me anyway 2008

Agreed. The 2008 allows a single receptacle for a peninsula that has a sink with 12 inches of space behind it. The 2005 does not. The OP did not tell us what code cycle is in effect in the area of interest.
 
The code is 2005. But we don't have more than 12" behind the sink so it really doesn't matter. Thanks for the answers, I'll be back at the designer with this info.

Same around here. The connected end of the peninsula is taken care of by the nearest wall-mounted receptacle.
