If I have say 10-15 LED light poles being fed rom one circuit and the panel schedule feeding those poles calls for 2#4's and 1#8 would that just be the wire size out to the first pole and then the size would be reduced when wiring between the poles? Or would the 2 #4 and 1#8 be run out to each pole? If so why? I know the wiring from the pole base up the fixture head is usually #12 or #10. Thanks.

Guess I am overlooking something, it post numbers do not seem to appear on my system. How do I find that post?

First you have to be using a browser rather than s mobile app.
Then right click on a thread title and copy the link address.
It should look something like this:
http://forums.mikeholt.com/showthread.php?p=1851717
Edit that string to put the thread number you want in place after the "p=".
Then paste that link into your browser address bar.
So simple only a child can do it. :)

Oops. Sorry, that is for the post number.
Slightly different for the thread ID. That would use "t=" instead of "p=".

I'll put $ on your #8 being undersized per 250.122(B):)
What is the size your overcurrent device ?

Well, maybe, but I keep getting an invalid error message. Unless it is a VERY old thread, it appears to be a digit short. For example this one is 1851723

It's not uncommon to run larger conductors and say a 60 amp circuit and tap off with a fuse in each light pole.
