Size grounding electrode conductor

Again I am rejected on an electrical inspection. I am doing a residential service upgrade in Tampa FL. The electrical inspector is requiring a # 4 Copper grounding electrode conductor. I am citing article 250.66 (A) to no avail. I know this is not a big deal, but it is inconvenient and takes time to replace the # 6 ground wire we installed to the ground rods. This is the second time in a week I have been turned down for grounding. The other one was for running a # 4 ground wire to a ground rod, and another # 4 gnd. wire
to the supplemental ground rod. I used two ground clamps on the first gnd. rod. The inspector insisted the wire had to be unspliced, I cited atticle 250.53 (A) (2) (1) to no avail. I am tired of inspectors who make more work and expense when it is not required by the NEC. Hank Kline
 
Have you checked for POCO requirements ? Locally the power co's require a #4 minimum.

Is he going by 250.64(C)- says continuous or irreversible connection
 
If following the NEC this inspector needs a refresher course. The conductor to the first rod is the GEC, the conductor between the rods is a bonding jumper. They do not need to be continuous. #6 is all that's required to a rod electrode.
