Size of Grounding Conductor

Where is it identified, in the NEC, that the Grounding Conductor in SER cable (or in a conduit containing service conductors) may be 2 sizes smaller than the current carrying conductors?

The NEC does not permit nor prohibit the grounded/grounding conductor of an SER assembly or individual conductors in a racewa to be two sizes smaller.

In many cases, the grounded and the grounding conductors may be smaller than the ungrounded conductors based on calculations and appropriate table use.

220.22 for grounded conductors, 250.66 and 250.122 for grounding conductors. :)
