Is 60 amps the smallest size service you can use for a sign? Also one or two ground rods? There will be a panel that will only be used for the sign and lights around the sign.

Re: size of sign service

Art.230.79(A)-(D) Spells out the min size of service for the diffrent applications. Keep in mind Art.230.23(B)& Art.230.31(B) As far as min. size of conductors though as well as the min. size of conductor that the meter housing will allow. As far as grounding the system there should be at least two ground rods for one reason Art.250.56 States that a rod shall not have more than 25 ohms to ground. Is the sign on a metal pole that is well grounded? If so you could & should use it as part of the grounding electrode system as listed under Art.250.50/250.52(A)(2).
