I have a Ironman 240 Welding machine. I have a 240V system. I'm thinking of putting a 50A amp breaker with #8 copper 75C rating. Information below. Should i up size the breaker for startup current? Also, should i upsize cable to #6 because it is technically 50.8 and not 50?

Performance Data:
  • Rated Output: 200 A at 24 VDC, 60% duty cycle
  • Open Circuit Voltage: 40 VDC
  • Amperes Input at Rated Load (208 V / 240 V): 57.0 / 50.8
  • KVA / KW: 11.4 / 7.1
Thank you
