I am starting a design on a 5 story hotel. Applicable code is 2020 NEC. Most floors have about 12 guest rooms. None have permanent cooking. I am trying to size my panel and feeder for a common panel for each floor.
I can use 1.7 VA/SF from 220.12, but I believe this is only for sizing the individual branch circuits to each room. I suppose I could use 1.7 VA/SF and multiply times the number of rooms on that floor?
There is also 220.42, but how would I apply that? Does the demand factor get applied to the total connected load of all the hotel rooms for that floor?
