Which wire insulation type(s) can be used in wet locations?
Also Code References?
Also Code References?
Nobody's going to ding me on type A insulation?
I think there was a type A wire, or maybe A with some other letter, in the older code books.
It has to have a W to be rated for wet location--- Table 310.104A
"E"as in fifth answer (A,B,C,D,E)
The "W" rule of thumb works except for UF, which according to the code book can be a single conductor.
And I bet as a single conductor it may have a W in it. I doubt it is labeled UF
Features
Listed per UL as type UF-B Cable
Single conductors are dual rated
THHN/THWN-2, meeting 90?C for
Wet and Dry locations
I did and this is what came up for UF-B from this site. http://www.cmewire.com/catalog/building/20-BWX-06-UFB.pdf
C(UL) listed Single Conductor Type UF/Type TWU is suitable
for use as Sprinkler Irrigation Control Wire for general purpose
lighting and power. Construction provides solid or stranded soft
annealed copper conductor insulated with PVC that provides
excellent abrasion, acid, chemical, oil and moisture resistance.
? UL listed Type UF 600 Volt (#14 thru 4/0 AWG)
? C(UL) Listed Type TWU 600 Volt (#14 thru 4/0 AWG)
Service Wire Co.
TWU is c(UL) and Canada only
Not sure what your point is. I showed you single conductor is dual rated thhn/thhw and you quote something from Canada????:?
Nope, the wire I quoted is made in USA and is dual rated US and Canada, as is almost all wire produced in North American.
Look at a chunk of #12 THHN /T90/MTW -- you see THHN US; T90 CDN; Machine tool wire
