You wouldn't think this was possible; center of gravity and all that stuff.

That could be a photoshop job. I don't trust many pictures on the net anymore,

Yep, a 'shop job'.

Notice the orange cones on the 'riggers closest to us. I suppose they stayed there by magic went the crane tipped over? Not.

Also, why round pads on one side and square pads on the other?

Cool pic though, I have to admit!

At this angle, it may not have just 'crashed' down. It may have sloooowly tipped over. If there was a load on the far end, it would have done a lot more damage to that house.

Because it's on the poor HOs lawn, and the round pads that are attached to the rig would leave a big depression in the grass. They make the pad larger by putting down plywood & hence less damage.

in the video the boom is way long

in the video the boom is way long

so I'm convinced.

But, you'd think there would be tip sensors or something to warn when the outriggers closer to the street were becoming unweighted.

Step 2: Deploy outriggers, On both sides of the crane!
The crane probably 'slid down' the outrigger arms after it tipped.

This pic is definitely real.

I agree. After thinking about this, the probably were extended. But the pistons used to extend them probably aren't made to hold up half the weight of the entire machine, so they were just overwhelmed by the pressure.

Maybe this happened on the curved side of the earth, which means it was already sitting at a pretty steep angle.

the curved side of the earth

the curved side of the earth

Plus, the surface of the earth is going at ~24,000 miles in 24 hours =~1000 mph, so the wind might have blown it over.

Does that figure take into account the speed of the earth around the sun, the speed of the sun around the center of the galaxy, the speed of the galaxy through the universe.....
