I am going to install some new lights in an area of a warehouse that has low ceilings (about 8 feet), a small fork lift is able to make it through the space but most of the existing fixtures are installed in the space between floor beams against the floor (EMT). They want to make the space brighter so I am just looking for some suggestions on lights that are slim like 1-2 inches low profile. Should I just get a bunch of LED tape light? Also is it allowable in the NEC to use factory installed cord and plug in fixtures in a space like this?

I suppose I could put trouffers up. The space is unfinished with exposed beam construction. it's an old building brick and mortar with large floor beams. I would like a nice spread of light.

I don't think you will ever get enough tape light to light a large space very well.

These are thin, and they are probably the cheapest LED 2x4 lay-in fixture. I could see it becoming the next version of the 2 lamp, 2x4 troffer, and I believe its pretty close in price. (Maybe not quite - but I believe they are under $100 each).

The photometric aren't great compared to a lot of LED fixtures - its basically a blob of light. But that would probably be just fine for a warehouse.
