Hi. Has anyone used or worked with slip-over current transformers either for protection or metering applications over bushings in power transformers and circuit breakers?

If so, what are the risks of failure and problems due to field conditions, weather, insulation failure, etc? Are they reliable?

I have been looking to ABB (Kuhlman CTs) and ITEC slip-over current transformers.

We have installed them and have not heard of any issues in the last 20 years, but the owners may not have contacted us if a problem occurred.

Check for reduced energized part to ground clearance on the bushing with the slip-on CT in place.
