Presuming you are talking about dwelling units, the circuits must be 20 amp. 210.52(B)(1).

yes 20A in dwelling, along w/ the bathroom receps and washing machine. and i've recently learned that the dining room receps must also be on the 20A SABC. :D

In the US, you are required to install them on 20 Amp circuits.

However, in places like Canada there are exceptions that allow 15 Amp circuits

That's just the currency exchange rate. ;) But I understand we are now about on par with each other, so I suppose that means they will have to stick to 20 amp circuits.

I think Canada once required ALL SABC receptacles to be split on 2 circuits, so, no problems with where you wanted to arrange your appliances.

well using that logic, i would think that we would be allowed to go to 15A, seeing how there dollar didn't go up, ours just went down. :D
