I have an existing 1/8 hp 110 volt motor wired to a 20 amp breaker.

I need to wire another 1/8 hp 3 phase 208 volt motor near the existing motor, however, I only have two breaker spaces left in the panel. So is it permissible to install use a 3 pole breaker at 20 amps to wire both these motors and include a neutral for the existing motor?

I'm not sure if these motors have OL protection. Does the breaker adequately protect these motors or is that strictly the job of the OL's?

Yes, you can do that. Motors that size should have their own thermal protection and can be on a 20A breaker.

I'm not seeing how you can get a three pole breaker in two spaces. A two pole breaker would work for you.

Thanks Dave,

Ok maybe I wasn't that articulate when I wrote my original post.

I want to combine these two motors under one 3 phase 20 amp breaker. Phase A taking care of existing motor and one phase of the new motor, and phases B and C being the other two phases of the new motor.

I just noticed the new motor is three phase. Sorry.
