I have a customer who has requested something outside my normal realm. They are asking for a display of some sort in the master bedroom to tell them if any lights in the house are still on, and the ability to turn them off.

Does anyone have any experience with a system that will do this, or links to a web site? Also would like input about cost/value and whether you think it is a good investment. I also plan of having a lot of dimmers in this house if that makes a difference.

Re: smart switching

I do have some experience with Lutrons Grafik Eye dimming system, which offers this product that may meet your customers needs:

The viability of this depends largely on the wallet of your customer. The Viseo controller only works with Grafik Eye 5000 series and higher. This is predominantly commercial grade equipment, and mucho pricey.

I know that some Grafik Eye devices can interact with Lutrons Home Works Interactive dimming system, I'm not sure if Viseo is one of them. I would suppose a sales rep could answer that question. But, again, this is high dollar stuff, so it all depends on the thickness of the customers wallet and their proportion of money to brains :D

Re: smart switching

Check out Lutron's radio ra system. It allows you to do what they are looking for without the full expense of a homeworks system. Its also easy enough to retrofit in an existing home.

We install these regularly where the homeowner wants 'smart' lighting but not to pay for the high end system.

OnQ also makes a lighting control system with touch screens and the works.
