Smog Equip. on GFCI

New to forum first time posting.
The company I work for is retrofitting diesel trucks with required smog equip.
It uses 2800w at 208v single phase. Each regeneration station consists of a 20a gfci, a disconnect switch, and a flexible cord . The switch and cord are mounted on a pedastal out doors. The problem is when some of the trucks are plugged in the gfci trips, so they want me to remove them. I would like to find something in NEC that wouldprevent this?

I agree that GFCI is not required for 208 volt receptacles.

That said, if a GFCI is tripping, that means that some amount of current is leaving the source on the "hot" conductor, and is not returning to the source on the neutral. That is a problem. The problem is not about the inconvenience of having the circuit trip when a truck is plugged in. The problem is about leakage current. GFCI's exist for one purpose only: to protect human life. I think some effort should be made to locate and correct the source of the leakage current.

I agree there is a safety issue that is why i want to keep the gfci ,so they will have to fix the equip that was installed on the trucks.
