Re: Smoke detectors activated by sprikler alarm

Depending on the type of smoke detectors you have you may be able to use a simple flow switch on the sprinkler piping that will activate the smoke alarms when water flows through the sprinkler system. If you're using standard 120 volt battery backup smoke alarms than you may need an interface to activate them during a water flow condition or to interface them with an alarm panel.

Re: Smoke detectors activated by sprikler alarm

i don't know what building code you use, but i know it mentions a dBA level requirement for Use Group R. check to see if the corridor fire alarm horns or speakers produce a loud enough dBA within the dwelling unit (probably the bedroom with door closed).

i know notifier makes a smoke detector where you can reverse the polarity so that it can alarm when it detects smoke locally and also alarm when the building fire alarm system is actuated. the building sprinkler system should have flow switches that are monitored by the building fire alarm system.

hope this helps
