Smoke detectors in Lab's

Good Morning,

I am looking for infomation why in a hospital with Lab area,

the lab is completely sprinklered, and there are also smoke detectors in the

corridor areas, but no smokes in the actual lab area itself.

Again the whole lab itself is sprinkled. in addition to smokes in the corridors, break rooms etc.. BUT no smokes were installed in the actual lab working areas. any insight on why would be GREATLY appreciated.

To prevent accidental trips from possible process in the lab. They could also be installed in the vent hoods for the lab area.
