Smoke detectors in pa

I live in New Jersey and I’ve had a couple contractors say the smoke/co might be different in pa. I want to put a co/smoke on bottom of basement stairs and bottom of first floor stairs. And hallway of second floor 10 ft of bedrooms and smokes in all three bed rooms of second floor like I would do in Jersey. I figured that would be correct but two different guys said I should check
 
If your jurisdiction follows the IRC, then check out Section R314.3 for location of smoke alarms and R315.2 for location of CO detectors.
Combo detectors are allowed in R314.7.4

I think general rules most everywhere are you need at least one on each level even if there is nothing else on that level that requires a specific placement.

More than the minimum required isn't a violation either.
