I know that MA's a little funny re alarms, but if you go strictly by the IBC, you most likely don't need any smoke detectors. Is the building fully sprinklered?

thanks for the input and YES the building and the pharamacy itself is fully protected via sprinkler system. My understanding is that given that fact, one does not need the added protection of smoke detectors.

I've gotten feed back from others in Mass since writing this question and all agree that smokes in this instance are not required.
