Smokes ?

I have a bedroom off the kitchen in an existing home there is no way to put a smoke with in 10 feet of the bed room and not have it in the kitchen.also am I correct on this I have a Hall way that is 8' to the cealing that goes into a loft 10' cealing am i required to have a smoke in both areas?New Jersey

That is an interesting scenario, the smoke is not supposed to be installed within 20ft of an ignition source.

The loft question is one I would ask the official who inspects the alarms, and while at it, ask his advice about the kitchen.
