I know it too early to talk about snow, but I have to put some snow melt cable on my roof and in my gutters this year.
I have an ice dam problem and when it backs up my roof leaks until I break up the dam.

It has been a very long time since I used this stuff.

Can anyone recommend a system that works good without breaking the bank?

Raychem makes decent industrial grade heat cabling systems. I have run many hundreds of ft.
I usually get it from Grainger but you may find it elsewhere for less.
There is an outfit called easy heat I think that makes some pipe heat cable geared for the homeowner. Its also not bad. I'm not sure what they offer for that specific application.
