so cord usage

Would there be any problem connecting a 6kva dry type 3 phase 480v pri 240v sec transformer that is hung on the machine using SO cord with box strain reliefs right from the trans,one end with 480v plug is abt.6 foot plugged into a drop and the other 240v approx. 3 foot has machine plugged.The cords seem to be free from any physical damage.I am not sure if the sec. side is fused or has to be. Thanks

I'll take a stab at this - 400.7(A) Uses Permitted - 'Flex cords and cables shall be used ONLY for the following:....[they list 11 uses] and your application is not one of them.

So I would believe it is not an acceptable use of SO cord.

400.8 Does not specifically forbid this application. There is uses permitted in 400.7 that should apply to this installation.
